Beşiktaş Confirm Injury Blow for Ndidi
Beşiktaş have confirmed that midfielder Wilfred Ndidi sustained a thigh injury during the weekend’s derby clash against Fenerbahçe.
The Nigerian international was forced off in the 85th minute of the Trendyol Super League encounter after experiencing pain in the back of his thigh.
Subsequent MRI scans at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital revealed tension and bleeding in the posterior thigh muscle (biceps femoris).
A statement from the club read: ‘In the 85th minute of our Football A Team’s match against Fenerbahçe, our football player Wilfred Ndidi, who could not continue the game due to pain in the back of his thigh, was found to have tension and bleeding in the posterior thigh muscle in the MRI imaging performed. Wilfred Ndidi’s treatment has been started by our medical team.’
Ndidi, already suspended for Friday’s Super Lig fixture against Antalyaspor due to yellow card accumulation, is also expected to miss the upcoming away match against Samsun. The club hopes to have him fit in time for the Ziraat Turkish Cup quarter-final against Alanyaspor on April 23.
This development is a setback for Beşiktaş as they continue their push in both domestic league and cup competitions, with Ndidi’s leadership and defensive presence considered vital to the squad.
