Doha Diamond League Meeting Postponed to June 19
The opening leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League in Doha has been postponed and rescheduled for June 19 at the Khalifa International Stadium.
Originally set for May 8 at the Qatar Sports Club, the Mazzraty Doha Meeting was to launch the season but has been delayed following close monitoring of local conditions by organisers, Qatari authorities, and stakeholders.
The decision was taken in the interests of athlete and spectator safety. With higher temperatures expected in June, the event will move to the Khalifa International Stadium, which is temperature regulated and previously hosted the Diamond League and the World Athletics Championships in 2019.
The new date places Doha between the Bislett Games in Oslo on June 10 and the Meeting de Paris on June 28, making it the seventh leg of the 2026 series.
The season will now begin in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and conclude with the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 4-5.
Organisers emphasised their commitment to ensuring safe and secure competition for athletes, media, and spectators, while continuing to monitor developments in the Middle East in the weeks ahead.
