‘One Point Can Still Be Important in The End’: Doku Defiant After Man City Slip at Everton

Manchester City may have lost ground to Arsenal in the Premier League title race, but their Belgian winger Jeremy Doku insisted, ‘We will keep on fighting. We owe it to ourselves, and our fans, and let’s see what happens at the end.’

It was a night of chaos at Hill Dickinson Stadium. City looked in control after Doku’s first-half strike, only to unravel in a 13-minute spell that saw Everton score three times through Thierno Barry’s brace and Jake O’Brien’s header.

Erling Haaland responded quickly, and Doku’s stoppage-time equaliser at 96:49, the third-latest goal in City’s Premier League history, salvaged a point.

The draw, however, leaves City five points behind Arsenal with just one game in hand. It also highlights a worrying trend: Guardiola’s side have now dropped 12 points from winning positions since the turn of the year, the joint-most in the league alongside Tottenham and Newcastle.

For Doku, the frustration was clear. He admitted City had been ‘too sloppy’ in possession after the break, allowing Everton’s aggression to turn the game.

Yet his brace, and City’s refusal to fold, offered a glimmer of resilience. ‘One point can still be important in the end,’ he said, reminding fans that the race is far from over.
