Chuba Akpom Joins Ipswich Permanently After Loan Success

Ipswich Town have confirmed the permanent signing of striker Chuba Akpom from Ajax, following his successful loan spell at Portman Road.
The 30-year-old forward joined the Blues on loan in the summer of 2025, with an option to buy included in the deal. That clause has now been activated, securing Akpom’s services until 2029.
Akpom, who began his career at Arsenal before spells at Middlesbrough and Ajax, made 31 appearances for Ipswich last season. His goals against Hull City and Oxford United proved decisive in helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League.
Ajax director Alex Kroes praised Akpom’s professionalism, saying: ‘Chuba is a top professional and a hard worker. We hope his goals continue to play a key role in Ipswich’s success, and we will follow his progress with keen interest.’
Akpom leaves Ajax after 68 appearances and 23 goals, having joined the Dutch giants in 2023. His permanent move to Ipswich marks a new chapter as the club prepares for life back in the Premier League.
