Netball Federation, Diaspora Talents Committee Partner to Put Nigeria on Netball Map

The newly inaugurated board of the Nigeria Netball Federation (NNF) has entered into a landmark collaboration with the Nigeria Diaspora Talents Development Committee to harness the wealth of Nigerian-descended netballers excelling across the globe.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the National Sports Commission (NSC) headquarters, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, NSC Director-General Bukola Olopade praised the efforts of NNF President Dr. (Mrs) Esther Aluko and Diaspora Talents Development Committee Chairman Dr. Tunde Adelakun.
Olopade noted: ‘We are aware of the immense work put in by Dr. Aluko and Dr. Adelakun to ensure that many of our talented netballers abroad represent Nigeria. Most of the best netballers in the world are Nigerians, and their passion gives us the encouragement to push forward.’
Dr. Adelakun emphasized that netball is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Diaspora Sports Initiative, revealing that a Nigeria Diaspora Netball team has already been assembled and will debut at the Nigeria Intermediate Games in October.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aluko expressed optimism about netball’s revival in Nigeria: ‘Netball once thrived in schools and colleges across the country, instilling discipline and building character. This strategic plan marks the end of its abandonment and the beginning of a new era.’
