Oratile Leads Botswana at African Athletics Championships in Accra
Reigning African U20 200m and 400m champion Justice Oratile will spearhead Botswana’s team to the 24th African Athletics Championships in Accra, Ghana, from May 12-17.
Born on May 21, 2006, Oratile is a rising star from Lefika Athletics Club who has already stamped his authority on the continent’s sprinting scene.
At the 2025 African U20 Championships in Abeokuta, Nigeria, he swept gold in the 200m, 400m, and 4x400m relay.
He also claimed bronze at the 2025 World Athletics Relays as part of Botswana’s 4x400m team, clocking 2:58.27. His personal best of 20.22 in the 200m and 44.61 seconds in the 400m were set last month.
Botswana’s squad, however, will be without several of its established superstars. Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo has chosen to compete at the Diamond League opener in Shanghai/Keqiao.
Reigning world 400m and 4x400m champion Busang Collen Kebinatshipi, who is also the fastest man over 100m this year with 9.89, will not feature. Other notable absentees include Lee Bhekempilo Eppie and Bayapo Ndori.
