Chelsea Stars Vow to ‘Fight for Europe’ After Liverpool Draw

Chelsea earned a hard-fought point at Anfield after a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, but the focus from the players was firmly on the bigger picture, securing European football next season.

Defender Wesley Fofana spoke to TNT Sports after the game, reflecting on Chelsea’s equaliser. While there was some debate over whether he or teammate Enzo Fernández got the final touch, Fofana was quick to highlight the importance of the goal.

‘I think it was mine. Everyone has told me that I touched the ball. I don’t know if I did, but if it’s me or Enzo then I’m happy because it was an important one,’ he said.

Fofana stressed the club’s ambitions: ‘This is a big club with big players, so we need to fight for it. We need to get into Europe, no matter if it is the Champions League or Europa League. We need to give everything for this club and for the fans.’

Meanwhile, fellow defender Marc Cucurella praised the team’s effort despite missing out on all three points.

‘I think the effort today was really good. It wasn’t our best moment, but we showed that if we play together then we have a good level. Hopefully we can win a bit of confidence from this game because next week we have a massive one,’ he said.

Cucurella added that while Chelsea were disappointed not to win, the performance showed their potential: ‘We aren’t happy because we wanted the three points, but we are happy that we showed we’re a really good team if we put in the effort and fight together.’

The draw leaves Chelsea still battling for European qualification, with players and staff united in their determination to finish the season strongly.
