12 Teams Battle in Asiwaju Renewed Hope 3×3 Challenge in Akure

Akure, the capital of Ondo State, will come alive on May 16 and 17 as 12 teams from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti converge for the South West 3×3 Basketball Challenge.

The championship tagged Asiwaju Renewed Hope South West 3×3 Basketball Challenge, is organised by the South West Basketball Zone and will take place at Democracy Park, Oja Oba.

Sponsored by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the event promises to showcase the best of basketball talent across the region.

South West representative on the Nigeria Basketball Federation board, Olumide Oyedeji, described the tournament as an opportunity for players to experience competitive action while promoting the fast-growing 3×3 format.

Oyedeji emphasised that the choice of 3×3 reflects its global popularity and the need to discover new talents within the zone.

He revealed that beyond millions in cash prizes, all participating teams will be accommodated, fed, and provided with jerseys, alongside transportation subsidies.

Expressing gratitude to the minister for his support, Oyedeji assured that the two-day fiesta will deliver more than just basketball.
