Evra: Osimhen Is the Striker Man United Must Sign

Former Manchester United full‑back Patrice Evra has identified Victor Osimhen as the one player the Red Devils should go all out to sign in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to GOAL, Evra described the prolific Nigeria international as a ‘difference‑maker’ who could transform United’s attack.
Osimhen, currently on the books of Turkish giants Galatasaray, has long been linked with a Premier League move.
Despite interest from clubs across England, including Liverpool and Chelsea, no deal has materialised. Instead, the 27‑year‑old striker has showcased his talent in France, Italy, and now Turkey, where he has scored 59 goals in 74 appearances for Gala following his Serie A title triumph with Napoli.
Evra explained: ‘Man United need a proper striker. Back in the day, we had four amazing strikers, and if you want to play every competition, you need more strikers. To name one player, I say Osimhen because I know these guys can make the difference.’
He also noted the need for reinforcements in defence and midfield, with Casemiro’s departure leaving a gap to be filled.
Evra is not alone in his admiration.
Former United forward Louis Saha has previously hailed Osimhen as a ‘transformational signing,’ citing his Champions League experience, charisma, and ability to deliver under pressure, notably firing Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.
Rio Ferdinand also urged United to move for Osimhen before his £64m switch to Galatasaray in 2025, describing the fee as ‘peanuts’ for a player of his calibre.
