Ofili To Make 2026 Diamond League Debut in Rome

Favour Ofili will kick off her 2026 Diamond League campaign at the Golden Gala in Rome, lining up in the 200m against one of the fiercest fields of the season.

The 23‑year‑old Nigerian sprint sensation, already a sub‑22 performer with a 21.96 best, faces reigning World champion Jefferson‑Wooden Melissa, Olympic 100m queen Julian Alfred, former World 200m champion Dina Asher‑Smith, and rising star Anavia Battle.

Five of the confirmed entrants, including Ofili, have all broken the 22‑second barrier, setting the stage for a blockbuster showdown.

Ofili’s Diamond League story began last year at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, where she clocked 11.09 for fifth in the 100m.

She followed up at the Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzów, producing a season’s best 22.25 to finish third.

At Athletissima in Lausanne, she stormed to second in 22.31, her third Diamond League outing. Though she qualified for the Zurich final, she chose to skip it, a decision that now fuels anticipation for her Rome return.
