American sprint star Noah Lyles stormed to victory in the men’s 100m at the Diamond League meeting in Rome, clocking a season-best 9.88 seconds.
Lyles, who has been building momentum throughout the season, showcased his trademark finishing speed to secure the win.
‘I had a great finish. I can go again. Who wants to go?’ he said with confidence after the race.
‘I was having a great block session yesterday, and I showed it today. This season might be different, but it doesn’t mean the goal is different. I am not showing anywhere to lose. I am here to win.’
The reigning world champion revealed that he knew the race was his well before the finish line.
‘Ten meters before the finish line I knew the race was over and I had already won it. I was thinking about how I was going to celebrate it,’ Lyles added.
