Atletico Trolls Real Madrid After €150m Alvarez Bid Rejected

The rivalry between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid has taken a fresh twist after Atletico mocked their city rivals on social media.
The incident followed Real Madrid’s shock €150 million bid for striker Julian Alvarez, which Atletico promptly rejected.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had promised supporters a blockbuster signing ahead of the club’s elections, with speculation swirling that Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise was the target.
Instead, the mystery player turned out to be Alvarez, 26, who has become a key figure for Atletico.
After Real confirmed their bid had been turned down, Atletico responded with a tongue-in-cheek ‘official statement’ posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The four-point message ridiculed their rivals before adding a pointed postscript: ‘Taking advantage of the good relationship with your new president, let’s see if you stop ‘stealing’ players from our Academy. Thanks a lot, Real Madrid.’
