Mourinho Secures Cucurella as First Real Madrid Signing

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to Real Madrid, with an agreement reached between the clubs and the player.
The Spanish left-back, who joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2022, has been linked with a return to La Liga in recent weeks, though speculation had largely centred on Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Cucurella has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid and will make the switch following the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup.
The move is understood to have been driven by new Madrid manager José Mourinho, who identified the 27-year-old as a priority signing to strengthen his defensive options.
Cucurella had recently spoken positively about conversations with incoming Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso, saying the fellow Spaniard gave him confidence in the club’s project.
However, the allure of Real Madrid and Mourinho’s insistence on securing his services proved decisive.
