NIS Boss Shaibu Hails Edo Queens’ NWFL Triumph

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), H.E. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has extended warm congratulations to Edo Queens Football Club following their victory in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership and qualification for continental competition.
In his message, Shaibu hailed the achievement as a well-deserved reward for the players, coaching staff, and management, praising their dedication, resilience, and hard work throughout the season.
He emphasized that Edo Queens’ success reflects the growing strength of women’s football in Nigeria and brings pride not only to Edo State but to the nation as a whole.
Shaibu noted that the triumph underscores the positive impact of sustained investment in sports development and talent nurturing, adding that it will inspire a new generation of young female athletes to pursue excellence.
He also commended the Edo State Government for its continued commitment to sports, which has consistently produced outstanding results across multiple disciplines.
Expressing confidence in Edo Queens’ ability to shine on the continental stage, Shaibu urged the team to remain focused as they prepare for the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Burkina Faso.
He reaffirmed the support of sports stakeholders and Nigerians for the club’s quest to achieve more laurels for the country.
