‘I Wanted to Open With 48 Seconds and I Succeeded’: Paulino Delivers Statement Run With 48.91

Reigning Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic delivered a commanding performance in the women’s 400m, clocking 48.91 seconds to set a meeting record and season’s best at the Diamond League.

Paulino, who owns a lifetime best of 47.98, has already established herself as one of the sport’s greats with a world championship title and two silver medals at past editions.

Her latest victory reinforces her dominance and signals her readiness for another golden campaign.

‘Before I came here I wanted to open with 48 seconds and I succeeded,’ Paulino said after the race. ‘I am working hard on the weak points and today I proved that I am improving. I love to compete.’

Beyond the track, Paulino revealed that her journey will soon be told in a film about her life, tracing her story from childhood to global stardom.

She explained that the actress portraying her is also a 400m runner who trains alongside her, a choice Paulino personally recommended to ensure authenticity.
