Amusan Returns to Paris for Diamond League Showdown

Tobi Amusan will return to track and field action at the Meeting de Paris Diamond League in Paris, France on June 28 after missing the Nigeria Track and Field Championships for the first time since 2021.

The 29-year-old is among the 16 athletes confirmed for the 100m hurdles at the eighth stop of this year’s Wanda Diamond League.

Amusan is returning to the city where she ran her second fastest time ever (12.24) over the high hurdles. She achieved this when she placed second behind USA’s Grace Stark, who ran her 12.21 lifetime best to win last year at the Stade Charléty in Paris.

It was also at the stadium that Amusan first broke the African record when she ran 12.42 to surpass Glory Alozie’s mark.

Amusan holds a 12.18 season’s best and is currently second in the 100m hurdles ranking. The Nigerian is not the only African confirmed for the competition, as South African Marione Fourie will also line up in the race.

Reigning Olympic champion and world leader Masai Russell is not confirmed for the event, while Kendra Harrison, the former World and Diamond League record holder, is listed alongside home girl Cyrena Samba-Mayela, the Olympic Games silver medalist.

Also confirmed are reigning world champion Ditaji Kambundji and World Indoor 60m champion and record holder Devynne Charlton.
