Arsenal Seal Permanent Deal for Piero Hincapié

Arsenal have announced that defender Piero Hincapié will join the club on a permanent deal from July 1, following a successful loan spell from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Ecuador international was a key figure in Arsenal’s Premier League-winning campaign last season, making 39 appearances across all competitions.

His contributions helped solidify a defensive unit that has conceded the fewest goals in the league over the past three seasons.

Hincapié made his debut for the Gunners in a 2-0 Champions League victory away to Athletic Club in September 2025.

He scored his first goal in February against Wolves, the same month he was named Arsenal’s Player of the Month, an accolade he would later win again in April.

The 24-year-old began his career at Independiente del Valle, where he lifted the U20 Copa Libertadores in 2020 before moving to Argentina’s Talleres.

In 2021, he joined Bayer Leverkusen, making 166 appearances and playing a pivotal role in their unbeaten Bundesliga title-winning season in 2023/24.

On the international stage, Hincapié has captained Ecuador at youth level and earned 54 senior caps, featuring in four major tournaments, including the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026.

Arsenal confirmed that the transfer is subject to regulatory processes but expressed delight at securing Hincapié’s services permanently.
