FC Köln Eye Loan Deal for Man United Prospect Chido Obi

Manchester United are reportedly in discussions with FC Köln over a potential loan move for teenage striker Chido Obi, in what would be a surprise departure from Old Trafford this summer.

The 18-year-old forward, who joined United from Arsenal’s academy, made eight senior appearances during the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.

However, he spent last season developing at Under-21 level, where he impressed with 19 goals in 40 appearances, alongside a prolific record of 17 goals and two assists in just 16 games for the Under-18s.

According to reports, Obi is now in talks over a switch to the Bundesliga, where Köln would offer him regular first-team opportunities. The Denmark Under-21 international is regarded as a future star at United, but the club believes a loan spell could accelerate his progress.

United’s striking options remain limited, with Joshua Zirkzee potentially leaving and Benjamin Šeško the established first-choice.

The club is expected to pursue an experienced forward to support Šeško in the upcoming campaign, which could open the door for Obi’s temporary exit.
