Duplantis Restores Dominance with Paris Diamond League Meeting Record

Swedish pole vault superstar Armand Duplantis returned to winning form at the Paris Diamond League, clearing 6.13m to set a new meeting record and reaffirm his dominance in the discipline.

Duplantis, who had faced challenges in Stockholm earlier this month, described the Paris performance as a statement: ‘I felt really good, we had some funny winds sometimes today, so we had to work through it a little bit. I felt like I wanted to make a little statement and come back. Just being the winner is cool again, definitely after Stockholm.’

The Olympic champion admitted that recent weeks had been unusual, balancing celebrations around his wedding with competition preparation: ‘Of course, I had a bit of a crazy couple of weeks and probably a bit more partying than I am used to before the competition.

‘Your mind goes a long way, which is crazy because the past couple of weeks I was so after the wedding because I knew that I had some stuff to get out. And now I am laser-focused. The wedding was so refreshing and now I am so ready to go after my next goals.’
