2026 Diamond League: Ofili Joins Prefontaine 100m Lineup, Ezekiel Restored, Eid Naser Out
Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has been added to the star‑studded women’s 100m list for the Prefontaine Wanda Diamond League meeting this weekend in Eugene, Oregon, USA.
The 23‑year‑old was not part of the initial roster for the ninth leg of the 15‑leg 2026 Wanda Diamond League series, but her inclusion now sets up a thrilling sprint showdown.
Ofili, still chasing her first series win after debuting in 2025, will line up against reigning world champion Melissa Jefferson‑Wooden, Jamaica’s sprinting sisters Tia and Tina Clayton, 2026 world leader Adaejah Hodge, NCAA champion Jackson Shawnti, former world 200m champion Shericka Jackson, and American star Sha’Carri Richardson.
In other roster updates, Nigeria’s 400m hurdles record holder Nathaniel Ezekiel has been restored to the men’s 400m list after his name was unexpectedly removed last week.
Meanwhile, 2019 world 400m champion Salwa Eid Naser, Nigerian by birth but competing for Bahrain, has been ruled out of the women’s 400m after final confirmation of athletes for the event.
Nigeria’s Ella Onojuvwevwo is among those confirmed and will make her Diamond League debut in Eugene. Irish‑Nigerian sprinter Rashidat Adeleke is also set to open her Diamond League season at the Prefontaine Classic.
Other Nigerian athletes listed to compete include world record holder Tobi Amusan in the 100m hurdles and Chukwuebuka Enekwechi in the Shot Put, ensuring strong national representation across multiple disciplines.
