NSC Inaugurates Boards of Nigeria Para Sports Federations
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has inaugurated the newly elected boards of Nigeria’s Para Sports Federations, marking a significant step in aligning the federations with the RHINSE (Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria Sports Economy) agenda.
The elections produced new leadership across several Para Sports disciplines including amputee football, athletics, powerlifting, soccer, swimming, volleyball, and badminton.
Among the notable outcomes, former Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports, Opukiri Micheal Jones-Ere, emerged as President of the Amputee Football Federation, while Etti Rafiu Olawale was elected President of Para Athletics.
In Para Powerlifting, Kingsley James Awodi secured the presidency, and Alhaji Kaka Mallam was chosen to lead Para Soccer.
Other federations also saw fresh leadership, with Adeyemi Adeshina Adeola heading Para Swimming and Muhammed Abbah Isa elected as President of Para Volleyball.
Speaking at the inauguration, NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko emphasized the importance of federations as the bedrock of Nigeria’s sports development.
He charged the new leaders to focus on building legacies and contributing to a sustainable sports economy, particularly within the Para Sports community.
‘What we have successfully done today is to give you all the platforms to come on board and contribute your own quota to build a sustainable sports economy especially in the Nigeria Para Community,’ Dikko said.
He further noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is intentional about revolutionizing Nigerian sports, with Para Sports forming a cardinal part of that vision.
The inauguration signals a renewed commitment to strengthening Para Sports in Nigeria, ensuring inclusivity, and driving excellence in line with the RHINSE agenda.
