‘This is Sports and We Accept the Outcome,’ says Kipyegon After Finishing 3rd in Eugene

Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon expressed gratitude and relief after finishing third in the women’s mile, a race won by USA’s Nikki Hiltz.

The reigning Olympic champion, who has dominated middle-distance running for years, admitted the contest was tough but emphasized her joy at competing in good health.

Kipyegon reflected on her performance with humility: ‘The race was good. I’m happy that I’ve competed healthy. I’m so happy to have done my middle distance race of the year. I did my first with a 5K in Shanghai, so this was my second one.

‘This is sports and we accept the outcome. It’s a little tough, I wanted just to follow the ladies. That’s why I’m not going crazy. At the same time, nobody knows behind the scenes of everything. I thank God I managed to run good today.’
