Ennis-Hill: My Money Is On Tobi Amusan To Win 100m Hurdles Gold

Three time World Heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill has tipped reigning world champion and record holder, Nigeria’s Tobiloba Ayomide Amusan to successfully defend

the 100m hurdles Commopnwealth Games title she won four years ago when the final of the event takes place Sunday at the Alexander stadium in Birmingham.

Amusan, 25, lay down the marker with an impressive but wind-aided 12.40 seconds to win her semifinal heat of Friday and the petite Nigerian looks on course to become

the second woman in Games history to successfully defend a sprint hurdles title.

‘My money is on Amusan to win the title on Sunday,’ says Ennis-Hill, the London 2012 Olympic champion in the Heptathlon.

‘She has a great technique over the hurdles. It is one thing to have a great speed but you need to balance it over the hurdles. This Amusan has done with effortless

ease. She has a great lead leg over the hurdles and a devastating trail leg,’ said the multi-eventer who has a 12.54 seconds personal best in the 100m hurdles.

Ennis-Hill believes Amusan will be too strong for her competitors on Sunday and they include two Jamaicans, Danielle Williams whom the Nigerian beat to the

Commonwealth Games gold four years ago in the Gold Coast, Australia and Megan Tapper who edged Amusan to the bronze medal at the Olympics.
