Nigeria’s Friendly with Ghana Cancelled Ahead of WAFCON 2026

The international friendly between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Ghana’s Black Queens has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the development through the Super Falcons’ official X account, announcing that the fixture scheduled to take place in Casablanca on Saturday, July 18, would no longer go ahead.
The match had been arranged as part of the final preparations for both teams ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The tournament is scheduled to run from July 26 to August 16 and will also serve as Africa’s qualifying competition for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Defending champions Nigeria have been drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi, while Ghana will compete in Group D with Cape Verde, Cameroon and Mali.
The Super Falcons will begin their title defence against Malawi on July 28 as they aim to retain the continental crown and secure qualification for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup.
