Ezekiel Nathaniel to Run Just Two Rounds in Men’s 400m Hurdles at Glasgow 2026

Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel will compete in just two rounds of the men’s 400m hurdles at the ongoing Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after organisers scrapped the first round of the event.

The decision followed a reduction in entries from 25 to 24 athletes in the last two days, making the first round unnecessary.

The competition will now begin with three heats on Wednesday, July 29, with the first two athletes in each heat qualifying automatically for the final.

Two additional athletes will also advance to the final as the fastest non-automatic qualifiers.

The 400m hurdles final remains scheduled for Friday, July 31, meaning Nathaniel will need to finish among the top two in his heat or secure one of the two fastest non-automatic qualifying positions to reach the medal race.
