Hoffenheim Loan Gift Orban to Turkish Club Amed SK with Mandatory Purchase Clause
German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim have confirmed the departure of Nigerian striker Gift Orban to newly promoted Turkish club Amed SK Diyarbakir on a season-long loan, with the agreement including a mandatory purchase option tied to the club’s survival in the top flight.
According to reports from Germany, Hoffenheim will receive a €1 million loan fee, while Amed SK will be obliged to complete a permanent €4 million transfer if they avoid relegation at the end of the season.
The deal allows the Bundesliga club to continue recouping the €9 million they paid to sign the former Lyon forward.
Orban spent the second half of last season on loan at Italian side Hellas Verona, where Hoffenheim earned a €500,000 loan fee.
However, Verona’s relegation from Serie A meant the club did not activate the €8 million purchase option included in that agreement.
The 24-year-old made an impressive start to life at Hoffenheim, scoring four Bundesliga goals in his first six appearances and establishing himself as a regular under head coach Christian Ilzer.
His form, however, dipped during the closing months of the campaign, with the Nigerian failing to score after Matchday 23. His current market value is estimated at €7 million, down from a previous high of €10 million.
