Nigerian FIFA Referees Take Charge of WAFU B U-20 Clash in Côte d’Ivoire

Nigeria’s growing reputation in football officiating has received another boost with FIFA referees Grema Mohammed and Ahmed Tijani Mustapha appointed to officiate Saturday’s WAFU B U-20 Championship clash between hosts Côte d’Ivoire and Niger in Yamoussoukro.

The duo, who have been in Côte d’Ivoire since the start of the regional tournament, will form part of the officiating team for the Group B encounter.

Grema Mohammed will serve as the referee, while Ahmed Tijani Mustapha has been named Assistant Referee One. Burkina Faso’s Soma Issoouf and Diero Hamidou will serve as Assistant Referee Two and Fourth Official respectively, with Koko Ntale of Togo appointed as the Referee Assessor.

Reacting to the appointments, Acting President of the Nigeria Football Referees’ Association (NFRA), Sir Kelechi Mejuobi, congratulated the Nigerian officials and urged them to continue projecting the country’s refereeing standards on the continental stage.

“I congratulate our representatives on this important appointment and urge them to showcase the exceptional refereeing qualities Nigeria is known for. We are proud of them and will continue to keep them in our prayers for an excellent performance,” Mejuobi said.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m. Nigerian time at the Le Mini Stade de l’Évêché du Scientifique in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
