Sanwo-Olu Inspects Teslim Balogun Stadium Ahead of National Intermediate Sports Festival

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inspected ongoing rehabilitation work at Teslim Balogun Stadium and other sports facilities as the state intensifies preparations to host the inaugural National Intermediate Sports Festival.

Sanwo-Olu said he was pleased with the progress of the rehabilitation, noting that the natural grass pitch at Teslim Balogun Stadium has been completed while work on a new tartan track is expected to be finished in the coming weeks.

The indoor halls, swimming pools and other facilities are also being upgraded ahead of the arrival of thousands of young athletes from across Nigeria.

The governor said the investment reflects Lagos State’s commitment to developing sports infrastructure and creating opportunities for young Nigerians to discover and develop their talents. He noted that sports centres have been rebuilt over the past three years across Surulere, Ikorodu, Epe, Agege and Badagry.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the objective is to ensure that young people have access to quality sporting facilities close to their communities, enabling them to discover their abilities, compete with confidence and build careers in sports.

‘Lagos is ready and we look forward to welcoming the next generation of Nigerian athletes,’ the governor said.
