Ofili Chases First Wanda Diamond League Win to Lausanne

Nearly one year after making her last appearance at the Athletissima meeting in Lausanne, Nigerian sprint star Favour Ofili is set to return to the Wanda Diamond League stage next week, hoping to finally secure her first victory in the prestigious series.

Ofili’s last Diamond League outing was at this year’s Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, where she clocked 11.10 seconds in the 100m but failed to advance to the final.

Her return to Lausanne therefore represents another opportunity to make an impact in a series where she has yet to claim a victory.

It was in Lausanne last year that Ofili came closest to breaking her Diamond League duck. The Nigerian finished second in the 200m in 22.31 seconds despite running into a 0.5m/s headwind, narrowly missing out on victory in a race that remains her best finish in the series.

The 23-year-old made her Diamond League debut at the 2025 Prefontaine Classic before competing in Silesia, Lausanne and Brussels. She qualified for the series final in Zurich but opted not to compete.

Ofili will face a formidable field in Lausanne, including former two-time world 200m champion Shericka Jackson of Jamaica and two-time Olympic champion and 2022 world 400m champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas, both of whom have run faster than the Nigerian this season and over their careers.

Americans Brittany Brown and Kayla White, Britain’s Amy Hunt, and Swiss pair Fabienne Hoenke and Leonie Pointet will complete the field as Ofili returns to the venue where she came closest to winning her first Diamond League race.
