NRA Announces Pre-Season Seminar for NPFL Referees, Assistant Referees

The Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) has announced its annual pre-season seminar for assessors, referees and assistant referees ahead of the commencement of the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Organised by the NFF Referees Development Unit, the workshop is aimed at improving the fitness, technical knowledge and officiating standards of match officials ahead of the new campaign.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary of the Referees Development Unit, Nasiru Ibrahim, the seminar will take place at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola National Stadium and the FIFA Goal Project, Package B, from Saturday, August 15 to Saturday, August 29, 2026. Daily sessions are scheduled to run from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Assessors will begin with classwork on August 15 and 16, while the first group of referees and assistant referees will arrive on August 17 for medical examinations. Their fitness tests will follow on August 18, with classwork, practical sessions and tests scheduled for August 19 and 20.

The second group will arrive for medical tests on August 21, followed by fitness tests on August 22. Their classwork, practical sessions and tests will be conducted on August 22 and 23.

The third group is scheduled to arrive for medical examinations on August 24, with fitness tests on August 25. Their classwork, practical sessions and tests will take place on August 26 and 28.

The pre-season programme is expected to ensure that Nigeria’s match officials are physically prepared and fully updated on the latest technical and officiating requirements before the 2026/2027 NPFL season gets underway.
