Liverpool 1-1 Crystal Palace: Eze, Zaha Hail Precious Point At Anfield
Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze says the team will take the point after playing a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in a Premier League fixture on Monday night at Anfield.
“We worked hard and could have nicked it in the end. It’s not easy to play your football here so to get a point is a good outcome for us.
Liverpool play a high line, our aim was to get on the ball and open up space, get in behind – and it worked well for us today,” he said after the game.
Palace goalscorer Wilfried Zaha says the team knew they would have to work hard for a result.
“We knew it was going to be hard work and it was a case of taking our chances. We knew we would have to suffer but our plan was to soak it up and take chances, so I am happy with the point.
They were pushing forward and I was looking for space in behind. It only takes one chance and I am glad I took it today. We are a good team and handling the big teams well, so I am very optimistic about this season, especially with the way we are playing.”
Liverpool captain on the night, James Milner was obviously disappointed with the result but hailed the reaction after going down to 10 men.
“We always want to win our games, especially at home. We could have defended better and had chances we couldn’t take. The Premier League is always tough, you come up against teams with quality who are well organised. It’s not the ideal start to the season but the reaction to going down to 10 men was very good,” he said
