Plateau United Defender Tarabina Joins Uganda Champions Vipers SC

Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have signed Nigerian centre-back Princewill Biweribo Tarabina on a two-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 23-year-old defender joins the Venoms from Nigeria Premier Football League side Plateau United, where he established himself as a regular last season, making 20 league appearances, scoring twice and providing two assists.

Tarabina previously spent four seasons with Bayelsa United, gaining valuable experience in Nigeria’s top flight before making the move to Uganda, where he will strengthen a Vipers defence preparing for domestic and continental challenges.

Vipers head coach Denis Lavagne welcomed the Nigerian defender, describing him as a young talent with the experience and potential to develop further at the club.

‘I’m pleased that we have been able to add to our squad with the arrival of Princewill. The club is a great place for him to be and his game will develop further,’ Lavagne said.

‘He is a young talent, who has experience at a high level, and he will continue to progress by training on a daily basis alongside the experienced centre-backs we have at the club.’

Tarabina said he was delighted to join the Ugandan champions and eager to begin working under Lavagne.

‘I am very happy to be part of the Vipers Sports Club family. I can’t wait to meet the teammates, staff and fans of the club,’ he said.

‘I know Vipers is a great club in Uganda and I know they were League champions last season and we have to defend the title. I can’t wait to start working with Lavagne as I’ve seen the progress that young players can make working with him.’

Tarabina becomes the latest addition to an ambitious Vipers squad that has also brought in players including Loyce Mbaba, Nicholas Mwere, Jacques Mangoba, Joel Sserunjongi and Farouk Miya, while Cesar Manzoki has returned to the club.
