NSC Inspects Lagos Facilities Ahead of Maiden National Intermediate Games

Preparations for the maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games have gathered momentum in Lagos following an inspection of proposed competition venues and other facilities by officials of the National Sports Commission (NSC), the Main Organising Committee (MOC) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC).
The inspection is part of efforts to ensure that the host city is fully prepared to welcome athletes and officials ahead of the Games.
Participants are expected to arrive from October 1, while the Opening Ceremony is scheduled for October 5.
The National Intermediate Games is a multi-sport competition organised under the authority of the NSC to provide a platform for the identification and development of young sporting talents across Nigeria.
The Games are designed for athletes in the Under-19 category, comprising athletes born between January 1, 2008 and September 30, 2011.
Athletes from all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as athletes in the diaspora competing as one contingent, are expected to converge on Lagos for two weeks of competition.
Notable members of the inspection delegation included former Nigerian long jump star Yusuf Alli, Olalekan Alabi alongside other officials from the NSC, MOC and LOC.
The inspection underscores the organisers’ commitment to ensuring that competition venues, technical arrangements and operational structures are in place for a safe, competitive and successful inaugural National Intermediate Games.
