Unhappy Martinelli Set for Arsenal Exit After Falling Out of Arteta’s Plans

Gabriel Martinelli is reportedly unhappy with the way he has been treated by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as the Brazilian winger edges closer to leaving the Premier League club.

Martinelli, Arsenal’s longest-serving player, has been left out of the squad at the start of the new season as the club looks to sell him before the transfer window closes.

Reports from Sky Sports indicate that Arsenal and Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal have made significant progress in negotiations, with the Saudi club’s initial package understood to be worth around £47 million plus £4 million in add-ons.

Martinelli is reportedly open to the move, which would also bring him a substantial increase in wages.

The 25-year-old was omitted from Arsenal’s squad for the Community Shield and subsequently missed the Premier League opener against Coventry City, fuelling speculation that Arteta no longer considers him part of his plans.

ESPN reports that Martinelli is upset by the way he has been treated internally and believes the manager has been ruthless in pushing him out of the team.

His treatment has also reportedly frustrated some members of the Arsenal squad, particularly his exclusion from the Community Shield, which meant he did not receive a winners’ medal despite his long association with the club.

Martinelli has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract, leaving the club determined to resolve his future before the transfer window closes. His departure could also trigger further movement in Arsenal’s squad before the deadline.
