‘Most Colourful Games in Nigeria’s History’: Eko 2026 Goes Digital as LOC Launches Official Website
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the maiden National Intermediate Games, tagged Eko 2026, has unveiled its official website, eko2026.org, as part of efforts to provide real-time information and seamless access to details about the multi-sport competition.
The newly launched platform has been designed with simplicity and user experience at its core, featuring clear fonts, easy-to-read text and an intuitive interface that allows visitors to quickly access information about the Games.
Its streamlined navigation is expected to make the website a reliable digital resource for athletes, officials, spectators and other stakeholders before, during and after the competition.
Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, Gbenga Omotoso, said the website would serve as a dynamic hub for updates throughout Eko 2026, while also providing visitors and athletes with useful information about Lagos.
‘The website is detailed but simple to navigate. We want all our visitors and athletes to know more about the city of Excellence, and that is why the platform will help first-timers get first-hand information about Lagos and the Games,’ Omotoso said.
He recalled Lagos’ long tradition of hosting major sporting events, including the maiden National Sports Festival in 1973 and the 2012 edition, which he described as one of the best-organised editions of the festival.
Omotoso said Eko 2026 would build on that legacy by setting new standards in youth sports development.
‘When it comes to sports, Lagos is at the forefront. With Eko 2026, we are set to break new grounds by staging the most colourful Games in Nigeria’s history,’ he affirmed.
