Chelle Names Two Nigerian Assistants as Olympic Eagles Begin Los Angeles 2028 Preparations

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has appointed Bright Osehai Ozebagbe and Deniran Ortega as his assistant coaches for the Nigerian Olympic Eagles as preparations gather momentum for the qualification campaign towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Chelle, who also oversees the Olympic Eagles, described the two Nigerian coaches as among the brightest young coaching talents in the country and expressed delight at the prospect of working with them.

Ozebagbe is currently the Technical Adviser of NPFL side Ikorodu City, who narrowly missed out on a continental ticket on the final day of last season, while UEFA-licensed Ortega, trained by the Scottish Football Association, is currently an assistant coach with Nigeria’s Flying Eagles.

The Malian-born coach has already briefed the leadership of the National Sports Commission on his plans and preparations for the Olympic qualification campaign and is expected to open a training camp in Abuja soon ahead of the qualifiers scheduled for November 2026.

Nigeria’s men’s and women’s Olympic football teams are under the supervision of the National Sports Commission, which is targeting not only qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games but also podium finishes for the country’s football teams.
