Mamudu Scores Again as Falconets Draw Korea Republic Ahead of World Cup

Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, were held to a 1-1 draw by Korea Republic in their final friendly match ahead of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals, which begin on Saturday.
In-form forward Mary Mamudu put Nigeria ahead on Tuesday afternoon, continuing her impressive scoring run, but the Asians drew level from the penalty spot with 12 minutes remaining.
The result came on the back of the Falconets’ 1-0 victory over host nation Poland in Brzeg on Friday and leaves the two-time FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup runners-up in good shape ahead of the tournament.
Nigeria, silver medalists at the 2010 and 2014 editions, will open their campaign against Spain in Sosnowiec on Monday evening before taking on China at the same venue on Thursday, September 10.
The Falconets will then travel to Łódź for their final group match against New Caledonia on Sunday, September 13, as they bid to make another strong impression on the global stage.
