2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup: Falconets Arrive In Katowice, Set for Spain Clash

Nigeria’s U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, have arrived in Katowice ahead of their opening fixture at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

The team departed their training base in Trzebnica on Thursday and checked into the Novotel Katowice Centrum as preparations enter the final stretch for Monday’s Group F encounter against Spain.

The Falconets spent 10 days in Trzebnica, where Head Coach Moses Aduku and his technical crew focused on tactical organisation, technical execution, physical conditioning and team cohesion.

The camp also provided the players with an opportunity to acclimatise to the Polish environment and build match sharpness ahead of the global tournament.

As part of their final preparations, Nigeria played two international friendly matches, recording a 1-0 victory over hosts Poland last Friday before drawing 1-1 with Korea Republic on Tuesday.

Mary Mamudu scored the winning goal against Poland and was again on target against Korea Republic, giving the Falconets a positive return from their two warm-up games.

The matches allowed the technical crew to assess the squad against different styles of opposition while helping the players adapt to the pace, intensity and conditions expected at the World Cup.

With the Trzebnica phase now completed, the Falconets will turn their full attention to Spain and their opening Group F fixture on Monday.

Nigeria will also face China PR on September 10 before rounding off their group campaign against New Caledonia on September 13.

The Falconets will be hoping to make a strong start against Spain as they begin their quest for honours at the tournament.
