Athlos: Amusan Gets Seventh Shot at Russell in London

Tobi Amusan will have another opportunity to end her winless run against Masai Russell when the Nigerian lines up at the Athlos women-only track and field event in London on Friday.
Amusan finished second behind the American in the 100m hurdles final at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest on Friday, extending Russell’s dominance in their head-to-head meetings this season to 6-0.
The London meeting will be their seventh clash of the year, with Amusan hoping to finally get the better of the reigning Olympic and Diamond League champion.
The 29-year-old former world champion will therefore head to London with more than the $65,000 prize money at stake, as she bids to end a difficult season against one of her biggest rivals on a winning note.
Russell will not be the only familiar opponent for Amusan in London, with fellow leading hurdlers Devynne Charlton, Danielle Williams, Megan Simmonds and Alaysha Johnson also confirmed for the event.
