Amusan Moves Five Places To 10th In Women’s Overall Rankings

Tobi Amusan has moved five places up to 10th in the latest World Athletics women’s overall rankings following her second-place finish at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest at the weekend.

The 29-year-old Nigerian remains the highest-ranked Nigerian athlete in the overall rankings since World Athletics introduced its ranking system in 2019.

Amusan also retained her second position in the women’s 100m hurdles rankings behind Olympic and World Ultimate champion Masai Russell, who has moved up to second in the overall women’s standings.

The Nigerian’s strong performance in Budapest also lifted her from third to second in the African women’s overall rankings.

Amusan, a former world and Commonwealth champion and former world-record holder, was the runner-up to Russell in the 100m hurdles at the Ultimate Championships, a result that significantly improved her overall ranking points.

She is the only Nigerian in the top 100 of the latest women’s overall rankings, with Favour Ofili the next Nigerian at 127th.
