No Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United or Chelsea Player in Shearer’s Premier League XI
Premier League record goalscorer Alan Shearer has named his Team of the Week for Matchweek 5, with no player from Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United or Chelsea making his selection.
Brighton dominate Shearer’s XI after their impressive 3-0 victory over reigning champions Arsenal, with four players and manager Fabian Hurzeler included.
Midfielder Chema Andres earns his place after an outstanding first Premier League start for Brighton, scoring a towering header in the club’s 125th-anniversary victory.
He is joined by team-mates Luka Vuskovic, Pascal Gross and Charalampos Kostoulas, while Hurzeler is named manager.
Brentford provide two players, Jannik Schuster and Jaidon Anthony, following their 3-0 victory over Chelsea.
Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo is rewarded for his three goal involvements in the 5-3 win over Sunderland, while Sunderland hat-trick hero Brian Brobbey also makes the XI despite finishing on the losing side.
The omission of players from Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea is notable after a weekend in which Arsenal lost 3-0 to Brighton, Liverpool edged Bournemouth 1-0, United drew 1-1 with Fulham and Chelsea were beaten 3-0 by Brentford.
