Adaobi Tabugo Set for European Indoor Debut in Tampere

Nigerian sprint hurdler Adaobi Tabugo is set to make her European indoor circuit debut on Wednesday at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze meeting in Tampere, Finland. The rising star will compete in both the 60m sprint and the 60m hurdles, marking her first race of the 2026 track season following her graduation from school.

Tabugo enters the competition with impressive credentials, especially in the hurdles. She holds a personal best of 7.44 seconds in the 60m and 7.99 seconds in the 60m hurdles.

Her sub-eight-second performance in the hurdles places her among an elite group of only seven African athletes to have achieved the feat. She is also the fifth Nigerian to break the barrier, joining the ranks of Tobi Amusan, Glory Alozie, Josephine Onyia, and Taiwo Aladefa.

Her debut in Tampere is expected to draw attention as she steps onto the European stage for the first time, signaling the start of what could be a breakthrough season for the young hurdler.
