Adeleke focused on World Championships, says: ‘I want to keep training and work on my speed and my turnover’
Rhasidat Adeleke says her focus is on September’s 20th World Athletics Championships and vows to keep working towards achieving a podium performance after running 22.72 to place second in her first Diamond League appearance since last August.
USA’s Anavia Battle won for the second straight Diamond League with a 22.38 personal season’s best.
The Irish 200m record holder is also happy with her performance in Keqiao/Shanghai.
‘I came in with heavy legs today but at the end I am quite happy with my overall performance. It was a good run, and I am looking forward to building towards the rest of the season.
‘Everything went pretty smoothly. I am going to keep training, work on my speed and my turnover. I would be focused on getting ready for the World Championships. My next competition would be in Guangzhou next weekend. I hope I would achieve good results there too,’ the 22 year old said after the event.
Adeleke will be hoping to turn fourth place she finished at the last World Championships in Budapest, Hungary two years ago to a place on the podium in her specialty, the 400m.
