Ademola Lookman Set for Fenerbahçe in Record €35m Deal

Fenerbahçe are closing in on a record-breaking deal to sign Nigerian international Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, in what could be one of the biggest transfers of the January window.
Negotiations between the two clubs have intensified, with reports indicating that Atalanta are holding out for €35 million plus €5 million in add-ons, while the overall package could rise to €40 million.
Lookman, who was crowned African Player of the Year in 2024, has become one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe following his resurgence at Atalanta.
Despite registering two goals in 12 Serie A appearances this season, his performances at continental level and his consistency in Italy have attracted interest from Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan, and Bayern Munich.
However, Fenerbahçe appear to have won the race, with sporting director Devin Özek travelling to Italy to finalize the deal.
The move would represent a huge statement of intent from the Turkish giants, making Lookman their most expensive signing in history.
It would eclipse the €28 million arrival of Mattéo Guendouzi earlier this season and rank as the fifth most expensive transfer of the January 2026 window.
Lookman’s relationship with Atalanta soured last summer when he accused the club of breaking promises and refused to play, prompting rejected bids from Inter Milan and a public statement of discontent.
Now, with Fenerbahçe on the verge of securing his signature, the former Premier League forward looks set to begin a new chapter in Istanbul, where expectations will be high for him to deliver on the grandest stage.
