Adeshina Soars to 1.96m, Claims Historic Big 12 Championships’ Three-Peat

Temitope Adeshina etched her name further into Big 12 Championships history with a commanding performance in the women’s high jump, securing her third consecutive title and setting a new meeting record.

The Nigerian record holder soared to 1.96m on her second attempt, becoming the first athlete in competition history to win three straight titles.

Her victory came after a thrilling duel with Kansas State senior Sharie Enoe, who achieved a personal best of 1.93m to finish second.

Adeshina entered the contest at 1.81m, having skipped the lower opening heights, and cleared successive bars at 1.81m, 1.84m, 1.87m, and 1.93m on her first attempts. Enoe matched her stride for stride up to 1.90m, but faltered at 1.93m before recovering on her second attempt.

The decisive moment came at 1.96m, where Adeshina cleared on her second try while Enoe failed to clear the height in three attempts.

Adeshina then made three valiant efforts at 2.00m, but despite not clearing, she had already done enough to secure her place in the record books.
