AFCON 2023: Opta supercomputer predicts victory for Ivory Coast against Nigeria

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be seeking to get back on track at the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2023, after they held Equatorial Guinea to a 1-1 draw in their opening game of the competition.
There is the possibility that the Super Eagles could fail to win their opening two AFCON games for the first time since 2013 (D2), which was also the last time the Super Eagles lifted the trophy.
That possibility looks to be real if the prediction by the Opta Supercomputer is anything to go by.
According to the Opta supercomputer, Ivory Coast are slight favourites to record a second win in their home tournament, predicted to beat Nigeria in 40.7% of pre-match simulations.
In fact, the Elephants of Ivory Coast are looking to win both of their opening two matches of an Africa Cup of Nations tournament for the first time since the 2013 edition following their 2-0 defeat of Guinea-Bissua in their opening group game.
The Super Eagles however have a good record in the group phase of the competition as they have lost just one of their last 12.
