AFCON 2025: Lookman Shrugs Off Osimhen Clash as Eagles Soar

Ademola Lookman has brushed aside talk of tension with Victor Osimhen during Nigeria’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the AFCON 2025 round of 16.
Both players were on the scoresheet, with Lookman also registering two of assists, but the match briefly turned heated in the 64th minute when Osimhen confronted him over a missed pass.
Moments later, the former African Player of the Year signaled to be substituted and left the pitch for Moses Simon, heading straight to the dressing room after the final whistle.
Speaking after the game, Lookman, who collected his second Man of the Match award of the tournament, downplayed the incident.
‘I don’t think that is really important, the team won 4-0,’ he said. ‘Vic is my number one guy, everybody knows this. Top striker, top player, so all of the rest is not important.’
The Super Eagles now turn their focus to the quarter-final clash in Marrakech on Saturday, January 5, where they will face either Algeria or DR Congo.
