AFCON 2025: Osimhen Joins Super Eagles as Team Departs for Fez, Morocco

Victor Osimhen has finally joined the Super Eagles’ camp in Cairo ahead of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, arriving four days after preparations began.
The Turkish‑based forward, who featured for his club over the weekend, missed Nigeria’s 2–1 loss to Egypt in Tuesday’s warm‑up match but is expected to lead the attack in Morocco once the tournament begins.
The team will depart their Cairo base on Thursday for Fez, travelling on a chartered flight as they continue final preparations.
Nigeria is drawn in Group C and will open their quest for a fourth AFCON title on December 23 against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania, a repeat of their first match at the 1980 AFCON, which Nigeria hosted and won 3–1 with goals from Muda Lawal, Ifeanyi Onyedika and Segun Odegbami.
The 28 players travelling to Fez include Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali, Fisayo Dele‑Bashiru, Akinsanmiro Ebenezer, Amas Obasogie, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi‑Samuel, Igho Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi, Zaidu Sanusi, Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka and Calvin Bassey.
Others are Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Cyril Dessers, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Raphael Onyedika, Ryan Alebiosu, Salim Fago, Chidozie Awaziem, Usman Mohammed, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Victor Osimhen.
