AFCON 2025 Qualifier: Sports Minister, Enoh charges Super Eagles to be wary of Libya

John Enoh, Nigeria’s Minister of Sports Development has charged the Super Eagles not to underrate the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in their two-legged 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games this Friday and next week Tuesday.

The Super Eagles host the Libyans in the first leg this Friday at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo and Enoh wants the Eagles to soar very high to Morocco where the final tournament will be held next year.

‘My dear Super Eagles of Nigeria, your solid start in the qualifiers has put you in a favorable position to secure a place in the 2025 AFCON tournament.

‘None the less, you must guard your place at the top, as the Mediterranean Knights will aim to defy expectations, seeking at least a draw in Uyo. Never undermine your opponents.

‘The nation will be rooting for you, make us proud, and good luck,’ wrote Enoh on his X page.

Victory for Nigeria on Friday and Tuesday next week will confirm their spot for the 21st time in Africa’s greatest football tournament.

The Eagles will move to 10 points if they win and if Benin Republic and Rwanda cancel each other out, they will move to six points and five points respectively with just two games left to play. This will mean the Nigerians will need at least a draw to secure their qualification.
