AFN 2025 Elections: Nneka Anibeze drags Fatimah Yusuf-Olukoju to NSC Electoral Committee

Nneka Anizebe has dragged Fatimah Yusuf-Olukoju to the Electoral Committee set up by the National Sports Commission to look into petitions arising from the elections into the board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

Sportsnow.com.ng gathered that Anibeze, an accomplished broadcast journalist and media aide to Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, reportedly protested against the eligibility of Yusuf, a 4x400m silver medalist at the 1996 Olympics just before the National Association of Women in Sports, NAWIS, representative election into the board of the AFN.

Yusuf defeated Anibeze 30-15 in the elections held in Abuja on Monday.

Following Anibeze’s petition, the NSC Elections Petitions Committee has scheduled Tuesday June 10 for hearing in the petition.

In a letter addresses to Hon Janet Jatau, the head of NAWIS Electoral Committee, the NSC Petitions Committee says it was set up to review all disputes arising from the Federations elections.

Details of Anibeze’s petition are unclear at the moment.

Meanwhile, a winner failed to emerge in the Technical Officials/Coaches Representative election as neither Solomon Aliyu nor Professor Lucas Ogunjimi could get that one vote that would have made the difference.

The first round of voting says a tie of 26-26 while the second round was also tied 11-11.

The technical arm of the Federation has thus shifted its battle to Abuja on Wednesday June 11 to determine who succeeds Naval man, Omatseye Nesiama on the board of AFN.
